When Should You Get Mold Testing?
Types of Mold Testing
Testing Methods
Air Sampling
Indoor and Outdoor air samples are collected using spore traps. The results reveal airborne fungal levels and help identify if your building has elevated mold spore counts compared to the outdoor baseline. Air sampling is ideal for detecting hidden mold behind walls or in HVAC systems.
Surface Swab Testing
When mold id visible, our technicians use sterile swabs to collect surface samples directly from the affected area. These samples are sealed and sent to an accredited microbiology lab to identify the exact species of mold present including toic black mold.
Bulk Material Sampling
What it is Bulk Material Sampling?
A small piece of contaminated material (e.g., drywall, insulation) is submitted to the lab for microscopic and/or culture-based analysis when surface/air alone won’t answer the question.
ERMI Dust Sampling
What it is ERMI Testing?
ERMI/HERTSMI use qPCR to detect mold DNA in settled dust, offering a historical snapshot of mold presence over time rather than just today’s air.
VOC Testing
VOC testing measures volatile organic compounds in indoor air, which can be released from paints, cleaning products, flooring, and furnishings. These invisible and often odorless gases can cause headaches, eye irritation, and discomfort. We ensure accuracy through calibrated sampling and strict chain-of-custody, providing lab-verified results with actionable recommendations.
Mycotoxin Testing
What is Mycotoxin Testing?
Mycotoxin testing detects toxic byproducts released by molds under certain conditions. We use specialty labs and strict protocols to check for these metabolites. Results are interpreted alongside your inspection data—visual findings, InstaScope® readings, moisture mapping, and thermal imaging—providing context and avoiding unnecessary alarm.
